Candidate Focus: Izzy Smith-Wade-El for Lancaster

We established this group to promote champions dedicated to building a more inclusive pipeline of future elected leaders.  Our latest endorsement is Izzy Smith-Wade-El for Pennsylvania’s House District 49

Izzy is a proud Lancaster City native. He has spent his career serving the community, most recently working with LancCoMyHome (the Lancaster County Homelessness Coalition) to secure housing for Lancaster’s most vulnerable populations.

Izzy is a great example of what it means to build a bench of people like us.  He has served on Lancaster’s City Council, working arm-in-arm with the community to meet their needs, from moving millions of dollars into investment in safe and affordable housing, to decriminalizing marijuana and working with Black Lives Matter organizers to change the city police use of force policy.

Izzy believes and lives the values of the Diversity Pipeline Pledge. In his own words: "This is a critical moment for Pennsylvania and for our nation. Everybody of every race, every gender, every sexual orientation and identity, needs to be empowered to make the change that our communities deserve."

Winning this seat is important because it's our opportunity to pick up a State House seat for Democrats in Lancaster County for the first time in 30 years, and it will be the very first time in Lancaster's history that a Black person or queer person has held state-level office.

So give Izzy a follow, and join us as we mobilize to contact voters in Lancaster and help him on his way to the State Legislature!
